Explaining the recent developments in blockchain technology and the rise of so-called Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) within the context of the last two decades of Web2 platforms, this presentation attempts to show how Web3 technology can fundamentally change the landscape of digital media, potentially offering tangible solutions for the continuous disenfranchisement musician and creators at large have experienced. Centering the needs of creators and offering new tools for collaboration and cooperation, NFTs and Web3 demand a thorough investigation, both in terms as an emergent technology, a new technological paradigm and as a new creative strategy. A lecture by curator, DJ and organiser Michail Stangl involved in the Boiler Room and CTM Festival events.
