Sometimes quirky, often personal, always danceable, Kinuko Hiramatsu aka Sapphire Slows uses the house music template to escape society´s expectations. As a DJ, producer and vocalist, Sapphire Slows has been a notable figure in Tokyo’s electronic music scene for the last decade, mixing minimal, hazy ambient and weird cosmic pop. Her trademark eerie, drone-like vocals speak about both beauty and the darkness of our world. On her highly acclaimed album ‘Allegoria’ (2013, Not Not Fun) she mixes cloudy Casio ghost-dub with spider-web sleepwalker techno and welcomes the listener to her inner world. Bedroom dance music at its best.
