Shanghai native producer and visual artist 33EMYBW has been a scene stirrer in China and beyond for over a decade: three critically acclaimed albums for the lauded SVBKVLT label, including her breakout solo record, ‘Golem’, have cemented her position as a visionary in contemporary club music with an idiosyncratic view of rhythm, experimental sound design, and instrumental technique informed by modern dance music, as well as traditional folk musical cultures. Her third album, ‘arthropods’, meditates on extended rhythm and post-human evolution, and was debuted at Unsound.
33EMYBW collaborates at Lunchmeat Festival 2024 with Joey Holder, a conceptual visual artist raising philosophical questions of the known and unknown universe, exploring the limits of the human experience, and interrogating how we experience technological and natural forms with conceptual frameworks underpinning each work. She has exhibited widely across the globe for the Athens and Venice Biennale and Harvard Museum of Natural History, amongst others.
