A Forbidden Distance
AV live

Ever since their debut EP for experimental outernational dub label Boomarm Nation, Iranian-Canadian brothers Saint Abdullah have crafted a sample-based near-archival sound, which always veers between rage, discordant cacophony, and found peace, fragments of home. Well-suited to words such as ‘prolific’, the duo have now released their fourth collaborative album with Irish musician Eomac, on the lauded experimental dance music label TTT, in addition to further collaborations such as with Jason Nazary, and also solo works.

For the 2024 edition of Atonal festival, Berlin, Saint Abdullah and Eomac joined with Italo-Australian filmmaker Rebecca Salvadori in creating the experimental live audiovisual film, A Forbidden Distance. Three artists with mixed international heritage, the film undertakes the task of exploring the untranslatable; how individual identity persists in the face of displacement, and against the transformative currents of contemporary nomadic life.

A Forbidden Distance is part of The Crossing, an artistic creation from TIMES, commissioned by Berlin Atonal, Semibreve, and Unsound
